This lecture covers the earliest formal Kingdom models. The teacher explains the simplistic Two-Kingdom system and the subsequent Three-Kingdom system, highlighting the fatal flaws that forced scientists to keep updating the models.

Sir explains the oldest system: the Two-Kingdom system (Plantae and Animalia). Plants were autotrophs (made their own food) and didn't move; Animals were heterotrophs (ate food) and moved. However, organisms like Euglena had plant-like chlorophyll AND animal-like movement, breaking the rules. In 1866, Ernst Haeckel proposed a Three-Kingdom system, creating the kingdom Protista to house these weird, mixed organisms and bacteria.
